Amara Kamara is a Community & Social Development practitioner working to better understand and deliver organizational improvements through human capital, social development, and systems and process enhancement.

𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 includes healthcare strategies, project design and management, data analysis and interpretation, and the development and implementation of research and operational tools centered on Human Capital Development and Social Development.

Amara is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in International Development and is actively engaged in academic research in economic growth, poverty reduction, better governance, quality of life improvements, and stronger human rights—in the poorer and less-developed countries of the world.

Amara's graduate degree in Project Management in the context of Nonprofit Leadership affords him a blend of technical skills related to budgeting, planning, scheduling, and project scope management, as well as soft skills such as negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution.

Amara's skills include strategic intelligence analysis, information collection, and operations, as well as the acumen to assess and predict traditional and non-traditional threats and risks. The MA in Intelligence also jealously provides him with a vintage point in international politics, and the intelligence cycle, including planning, data collection and exploitation, intelligence analysis, production, and dissemination phases.

Amara is action-oriented. He is all about conceptualizing, planning, designing, implementing, monitoring, and assessing outcomes for service users. The Human Services Admin degree credentialled Amara into human resources development, agency funding strategies, managing diverse populations of employees and clients, and improving and expanding the quality of service in a variety of fields from social service organizations to communities and nonprofits to human resources.

Amara is the owner and Principal Consultant at AMAKA Consulting firm which provides technical advisory services in human capital and social development to community development organizations and public sector clients in West Africa and the US. Over 9 years of leadership consulting experience in humanitarian and community development advisory services focusing on capacity development, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) governance, as well as technical and strategic coaching in the areas of new service development, process improvement, utilization review, benchmarking, advocacy, gender mainstreaming, and community outreach. Over 7 years of experience in civil society and community development services, specializing in process and organizational transformation, technology strategy and implementation, and technical project management.

  • Identifying processes that lead to improved environmental soundness and best management practices to conserve biodiversity and maintain productive natural resource assets over the long term that can adapt to climate change; and

  • Integrating environmental procedures into planning, implementation, and results monitoring.



  • Developing policies for trade and investment programs in underdeveloped and war-torn communities in Africa;

  • Developing linkages between U.S. and African educational institutions and associations on trade and investment programs; and Examining the constraints to growth and macroeconomic analysis of poverty dimensions.



  • Assistance to help power generation, distribution, and transmission projects, including clean energy projects and off-grid and mini-grid solutions, reach the construction stage;

  • Assistance in enhancing the enabling environment for private and public investment in energy infrastructure, including legal and regulatory frameworks, as well as institutional capacity building.


  • Developing partnerships with organizations that foster education programs;

  • Providing technical assistance in solving national and regional education and human capacity development challenges; and

  • Identifying program directions and objectives that increase the involvement of African communities in the education of their children.



  • Supporting programs and activities that build democratic institutions, promote human rights, protect vulnerable populations, enhance the rule of law, improve accountability, strengthen the voice of the community in their interactions with governments, support credible elections, and peacebuilding activities, and counter violent extremism, trafficking, and organized crime; and

  • Recommending approaches that promote the integration of democracy, governance, and conflict mitigation activities into other sectors.
